Norwich nearly misses second win; drops meet to Owego

NORWICH – The Norwich varsity swimming and diving team has posted some solid numbers in 2017 but have failed to get the job done when it comes to wins and losses – Norwich nearly secured an upset win at home when they fell to Owego by a score of 51-49.

This loss handed Norwich its ninth loss on the season – while individually the Tornado continues to shine as they snagged another seven personal best times in the meet this past Friday, Jan. 27.

“Owego is one of the top teams in Section IV. They (Owego) also have over half of there team as seniors,” said Norwich head coach Kevin Diefenbacher. “I told my young men in our pre-meet meeting, I wanted to see what they were made of this meet.”

This pre-meet talk that Diefenbacher had with his swimmers may have worked wonders on his young squad – inspiring the seven personal best marks and four first overall finishes.
