HOLLAND-PATENT – In a rescheduled game with a conference rival, the Sherburne-Earlville lady Marauders varsity basketball team fell short of maintaining their undefeated conference record when the Golden Knights of Holland-Petent won by 16 points at 59-43.

This road game on Saturday, Jan. 14, gave way to a second half of basketball where the S-E simply fell off – failing to keep pace with the Golden Knights.

“We just turned the ball over way too much and gave up too many second chance points,” said Sherburne-Earville head coach Karen Mulligan. “We didn't do a good job boxing out and keeping them off the offensive glass.”

The first half saw a semi-competitive game where S-E only trailed Holland-Patent by a score of 39-27. However, following the halftime break is when the Golden Knights poured on the points snagging a 17 point third period compared to S-E who managed just nine points in the third.

Leading the game in scoring for Sherburne-Earlville was Miranda Wright who snagged a 14 points. Also assisting the the effort, despite the loss was Emily Stanton with nine points and eight rebounds; and Tessa Cole with seven points and eight rebounds.
