GREENE – The Greene girls varsity basketball team cruised to an easy win on Thursday evening when they defeated Sidney by a twenty-point margin at 52-32.

The game on Jan. 5, was the first action that the lady Trojans had seen in the new calendar year, to which they never looked back answering with a resounding win on the night.

We played our best game of the year by far,” said Greene head coach Dave Gorton. “We had more assists than turnovers and we controlled the boards most of the game.”

Greene took a commanding halftime lead over the Warriors at 30-14, as they were led in scoring on the day by Nicole Flohr who found the net for a solid performance grabbing 17 points in the win. Flohr was trailed in scoring by her fellow Trojan, Sophia Brown who also hit double digit scoring with a 10-point effort.

Next up for Greene (5-2 overall), they will complete their go-around in the Oxford Girls Holiday Tournament in Oxford on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 6:15 p.m. while the Greene boys will play later on tonight when they host Sidney at 7:10 p.m.
