Lady Tornado Take Second With Six Individual Wins

WAVERLY – The Norwich girls track and field team hiked their way down with the boys for the Section IV Class B Championships.

The meet was held at Waverly high school last Thursday, May 26., and saw a total of seven teams compete in 18 different events throughout the course of the day.

The Norwich girls would secure a total of six championships for this meet, en route to a stellar overall performance, taking second overall in the tournament with 108-team points. Waverly would secure the team title with 119-team points scored on the day.

• Steeplechase saw Norwich's Liz Eddy carve out a spot of her own when she ran a 9:59.01 for a fifth place finish. Molly Burdick of Johnson City would secure the win with a time of 8:09.70.

• 110 hurdles would go to Alexandra Lauber of Maine Endwell when she ran a solid 15.74 for the win, however, Norwich's Hannah Klocksowski would see some points come her way when she finished in fifth place with a 18.15.

• 4x800 meter relay team from Susquehanna Valley would dominate the race, winning the event with a time of 8:32.11. Norwich's team, much like the boys, would also secure a fifth place finish with their time of 12:25.09.

• 100 meter dash would see Norwich's Emily Shattuck run an astounding 13.03 for her class championship run. While Norwich's Marysa Campbell would finish in sixth with a time of 13.89.
