UNION ENDICOTT – The Norwich varsity softball team faced off against Union Endicott on May 18, to close out their regular season schedule. UE would earn the shutout win over The Tornado at 4-0.

Despite one bad inning in the second, Norwich and UE would remain gridlocked the entire other six innings.

“We had bases loaded and gave up the long ball, it was a home run and that puts you in a hole fast,” said Norwich head coach Scott Moore. “Our defense was playing good and Hannah was pitching good, but their pitcher had twelve strikeouts and only allowed four hits.”

The grand slam in the second inning by Abby Madigan of UE, proved enough to overcome the bats of The Tornado as they failed to make a comeback attempt.

“ We had two errors that inning that they scored the four runs, but we actually got one of them out by fielders choice and we had a miscue out in the outfield,” said coach Moore.

As coach Moore attested, Colleen Mooney of UE tossed out a stellar 12-strikeouts with only walk, and only four hits the whole game.
