Chenango County Showdown On The Track

UNADILLA VALLEY – The Unadilla Valley boys and girls varsity Track and Field team held a meet this Wednesday April 20, which featured the visiting teams of Greene, Bainbridge-Guilford, Deposit-Hancock, and Harpursville-Afton.

On the boys side it was Deposit-Hancock (DH) who walked away with the win as they scored a team score of 119, followed in second by Unadilla Valley, third was claimed by Bainbridge-Guilford (BG) at 45, when they edged Harpursville-Afton (AH) who scored 44, while Greene claimed the last spot in the team score.

The home team Unadilla Valley who scored 117 claimed the girls top team spot. It was the Harpursville-Afton with 56 points who claimed the second place team finish, followed by Deposit-Hancock at 49, Greene at 45, and BG at 26.

The boys saw nine of the possible 15 events go their way with first place finishes; while the girls won two of their events.

The boys swept the relays on the day when they won the 4x100 with a time of 46.39, the 4x400 with a sub four-minute time of 3:56.36, and the 4x800 with a winning time of 9:09.50.

Ryan Hornbeck ran a flat 5-minute 1600 meter run to claim the top spot, Hornbeck also ran 2:14.7 in the 800 meter run for another win on the evening.
