Tornado boys and girls Track and Field down the visiting Warriors

NORWICH – The Norwich Tornado Track and Field boys and girls teams both walked away with wins over the visiting Chenango Valley Warriors when they came to town on Tuesday, April 19.

The boys would earn the team win over Chenango Valley 106-35, as they would subsequently win 14 of the potential 17 events, with many second and third place finishes as well.

“It turned out really well, it was a good day for us overall,” said Norwich head coach Shaun Horan.

Sophomore for Norwich Zach Race took advantage of the warm weather when he earned individual wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. The 200 meter dash saw Race earn the win with a time of 23.4 seconds, however, it was the 100 meter dash that really highlighted Race's speed on the track when he bolted to a 10.9 second win.

This 10.9 second 100 meter dash is a mere .1 second off of the Norwich school record that was set in 1992 by Jason Morris who ran a 10.8.

The 4x100 meter relay of Zach Race, David Berger, Connor Nial, and Eric Conant, won over the CV team with a time of 47.4.
