OXFORD – The Oxford girls softball team hosted the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats yesterday, Monday April 18, in a game that did not go their way. BG would earn the win in five innings at a 24-2 score.

“They had a combination of hits and we had a combination of errors, we had three in the first inning with three walks to their hits, with the second inning we had four more walks. The walks killed us,” said Oxford head coach Heather Pizza.

Pitching for the night for the Blackhawks was Emilee Eldred for the first two innings, followed by Allison Beckwith for the remaining three. While on the BG side Alli Miller pitched the entire duration of the game, throwing out seven strikeouts in her 86 pitches.

With the win BG is looking to make some waves as they are sitting at a 6-2 record, while Oxford has shown much promise of late but has sunk to a 2-5 record.

“We just couldn’t string our hits together until the end, the fifth inning we came alive,” said Pizza.
