New York State Trooper Rescued A Suspect From Ice-covered Lake

BARKER – On Feb. 27, New York State Trooper Michael Gardner made a miraculous effort in the recovery of an on the run suspect, as he and another passing motorist pulled the suspects body from an ice-covered lake.

At approximately 12:51 p.m., New York State Police at Whitney Point were advised to be on the lookout for a grey 2008 Dodge Magnum that was being driven by the suspect in question, Elvis F. Guzman, 27, of Cincinnatus.

It was alleged that Guzman was possibly headed southbound on State Route 26 after he drove away from a violent domestic dispute that had just occurred in the Town of Willet in Cortland County.

At about 12:55 p.m., Trooper Gardner observed the suspect’s vehicle as it drove from State Route 26 onto State Route 79 and activated his emergency lights and sirens in pursuit.
