Authorities: 20 ounces of meth recovered, two arrested

OTSELIC – A man and woman have been arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff's Office for various crimes, including making meth.

According to authorities, members from Chenango County Probation, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, and the New York State Police conducted a probation check at 2019 County Road 16 in the Town of Otselic on Thursday, Feb. 25.

During the check, Calvin M. Parker – a convicted felon –  age 56, was said to have been found to be in possession of a Remington 870 .20 gauge shotgun, approximately seven ounces of marijuana, and digital scales.



The second individual, Heather J. Naylor, age 29, was also found to be in possession of marijuana.

"A strong chemical odor was discovered during the investigation which led to the discovery of a “one pot” methamphetamine cook," read a release from authorities with the CCSO.

Approximately 20 ounces of liquid methamphetamine was later recovered from their location.

Parker was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony. He will also be charged with unlawful manufacturing methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony; criminally possessing methamphetamine precursors, a class E felony; criminal possession of marijuana, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor. His arraignment is currently pending [as of this posted time].

Naylor was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony. She will also be charged with unlawful manufacturing methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony; criminally possessing methamphetamine precursors, a class E felony; criminal possession of marijuana. Naylor is currently detained at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on a separate charge and awaiting arraignment.

The New York State Police CCSERT Team and New York State Environmental Conservation Police assisted with the investigation.

The two are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
