Moravia Bests Unadilla Valley Storm On Friday

MORAVIA - The season came to an end for the Unadilla Valley boys varsity basketball team on Friday night after a 73-45 loss at number two seeded Moravia.

The Blue Devils were hot from everywhere, making 26 field goals in the matchup off of 13 three-pointers and 13 twos. Moravia was also 8-for-12 from the free-throw line.

“They shot lights out in both halves,” said Unadilla Valley Head Coach Matt Osborne. “We switched defenses and tried everything we could, but they couldn’t miss.”

Moravia’s leading scorer was senior Joey Peppe who had a game high 24 points off of seven three-pointers and a few free-throws.

The Storm were led by Brett Hanslmaier, who scored 8 of his 11 points in the third quarter.

Unadilla Valley finishes the season with a record of 14-8. “We lose a great group of seniors who have been leaders on and off the court,” said Coach Osborne.

Moravia advances to the semi-finals of the Section IV Class C tournament to take on the Greene Trojans, who knocked off Watkins Glen on Friday night. The game will be played in Moravia on Friday, February 26th. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.
