Conway earns 500th win with an upset over Trojans to advance to MAC finals

GREENE– Last Friday, Feb. 5, the Bainbridge-Guilford girls basketball team traveled to Greene, to take on the Trojans who currently sitting at second place in the division, ahead of B-G.

B-G would leave triumphant, as they upset the Trojans on their home court 47-33, to move on to the MAC finals.

Coach Bob Conway of B-G attributed, who earned his 500th win with the upset, 401 wins with B-G, declined to talk about the milestone win at length, instead steering the questioning himself toward his athletes and their win.

“Lets talk about the kids. We came over here about a week and half ago, and we were up 12 going into the fourth quarter and we just fell apart, we disintegrated,” said Conway. “We worked really hard on the things we did wrong in that game, number one being taking care of the basketball and not making mental mistakes and panicking.”

The game began with a very competitive first quarter where both teams looked to settle into a groove, while figuring out their opponents.

“It was pretty even for a while, which is what I expected. But then we didn’t communicate well and we just didn’t talk on defense. We had two people going to the ball instead of one, and it was just breakdowns,” said Greene head coach Dave Gorton.
