ADIRONDACK - The Sherburne-Earlville girls varsity basketball team finished league play on Friday night at a perfect 8-0 after beating the Adirondack Wildcats, 44-29.

The Marauders were led by 21 points from Savannah Irwin and another 14 from Lilly Berg. At the halftime break, the game was locked at an even 18-18 when Sherburne-Earlville Head Coach Karen Mulligan talked to her team about making some adjustments.

Coach Mulligan said, “We came out flat in the first half. I just stressed that we needed to be more active and bring more energy on defense. We also talked about being more patient on offense and being a little more selective with some of the shots we were taking.”

Sherburne-Earlville certainly stepped up the defensive pressure from there on, holding the Wildcats to 11 points total in the second half with just two of those points coming in the fourth quarter. Lilly Berg became the spark the Marauders needed offensively after the break, as she scored 10 of her points in the third quarter alone to complete the turn around for S-E.
