SHERBURNE - The Cooperstown Hawkeyes and Tyler Bertram proved to be too much for the Marauders to handle on Saturday afternoon in a 67-52 S-E loss. Sherburne-Earlville seniors Ian Flemings, Ian Fredricks, Keegan Fredricks, Gavin Giroux, Jared Jillson, Tyler Rodriguez, and Dylan Seymour were all honored prior to the matchup.

Cooperstown Sophomore Tyler Bertram scored a cutting 26 points in the game, three-points-and-change short of his average of 29.4 on the season.

The Marauders fell down by 10 points early and would spend the remainder of the game playing catchup. Despite four different players scoring in the double-digits for S-E, they would ultimately come up short.

“We didn’t really get into any flow during the game. Bertram is a very good player, we just gave him too many open looks,” said Sherburne-Earlville Head Coach Kevin Vibbard.

Going into the last leg of the season, the Sherburne-Earlville boys maintain a one game division lead. Their final two games, at Adirondack and Canastota, are both divisional games that could have important post-season implications for the Marauders.

After the loss, S-E moves to 12-5 on the season. They travel to Adirondack on Friday night, Feb. 5, as they attempt to preserve their place at the top of the division.
