FENTON – In commanding fashion the Norwich varsity boys basketball team traveled to Chenango Valley for a Friday night showdown, winning by 20-points at 66-46.

This crushing win that the Tornado handed the Warriors on Friday night came after much trash talk and build up between the two rival Section IV teams.

Norwich would look to silence the bustling student section of CV right out of the gates when Jordan Vinal, Carlos Ithier, Jake Walsh, and Dashawn King all hit 3-point shots in the first quarter. The raining 3’s along with another 2-point basket had the Norwich boy’s rolling early, leading 14-4 in the first.

The Tornado would score another 7-points in the second quarter, before the Warriors would net another point themselves. The lead for Norwich at one point was 27-8, before CV finally found a groove, eventually closing out the half at 30-18 in favor of Norwich.

Following the halftime break, the Warriors would finally get some traction scoring 20-points, more than they had the entire first half. This whopping 20-points was not too much for the Norwich boy’s to handle as they would score 19-points of their own, essentially keeping pace while keeping a comfortable lead going into the fourth quarter at 49-38.

The fourth quarter the Tornado made some defensive adjustments and once again shut down the Warrior offense. CV would only manage 8-points in a weak comeback attempt to overtake Norwich. The fourth quarter saw Norwich cruise to the win scoring another 17-points, winning 66-46.
