BAINBRIDGE - The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats had no problem scoring Thursday night in a crushing victory at home versus the Hancock Wildcats.

The Bobcat girls came out firing and never looked back in a 81-41 win that moves the team to 8-3 on the season. Junior Rebecca Reyes scored a personal high of 23 points, 15 of which came off of 5 three-point field goals. Sophomore Megan Palmatier supplemented the Bobcats with 20 points, and freshman Abigail Selfridge tacked on another 16 to lead BGA to victory.

“This group has really bought into the idea of team basketball,” said Bainbridge-Guilford Head Coach Bob Conway, “We move the ball extremely well and we’re looking for good shot opportunities.”

The fate of the game was never really in question as the Bobcats jumped out to an early lead and proceeded to outscore Hancock in every quarter. They hit their stride offensively after the halftime break when BGA came out and put up 27 points in the third quarter alone.

Although you couldn’t tell based on their poise and play, the BGA girls are extremely young this season, harboring no seniors and only two juniors. But the group has worked hard in the offseason to make up for any lack of experience.

BGA’s Coach Conway said, “Our first five players have played AAU together in the offseason the last couple summers, and then we played summer league in Binghamton, so we’ve spent a lot of time on the basketball court and they love the game so it makes my life easy. And with every game they get a little bit better, a little more confident.”

The Bobcats will try to prolong their offensive juggernaut next Wednesday night at Deposit.
