The Pound brings accountability, 24-hour gym access to greater Norwich

NORWICH – For many, the start of a new year means taking strides to become healthy and fit. But while many a New Year’s resolution come and go, a local couple recently established a fitness gym aimed at offering extreme ease of access and encouraging accountability through team training in an effort to keep clients on the right track throughout the year.

“We've been wanting to open a gym for years,” said The Pound Owner Jena Weiss, originally hailing form Oklahoma. Weiss and husband Sonny, of the Oxford area, decided to take the plunge and build their gym in a matter of weeks after breaking under the pressure of the couple's individual clients – who they had been training at “The Farm” in the hills of Oxford.

Jena says that it was sometime around August of 2015 when the waffling on a brick and mortar location came to end. “Sonny and I had been going back and forth on a location; and honestly we were just about packed up and ready to head down to Florida.”

But the husband and wife training duo decided to put down roots here, having established a private training base in the Chenango County area since 2008.
