NORWICH - A long anticipated board game with local ties is soon to hit local store shelves after a small group of area volunteers spent more than a year and a half creating, designing and dreaming it up to benefit community members of greater Chenango.

The localized version inspired by the ever popular Parker Brothers classic “Monopoly,” Chenango-opoly is a game board that allows players to negotiate their way around Chenango County while buying and selling pieces of various real estate.

Chenango-opoly was a brainchild of John Antonowicz, a Norwich local who pitched the idea to members of the Chenango United Way board as a way generate funding while creating a piece of history for the Chenango community. The game was sponsored by the Chenango United Way. All revenue from gross sales will go to the nonprofits 2016 annual campaign.

“This game will provide a great way for families to see all Chenango County has to offer, and yet still offer assistance and raise funds for our community," said Antonowicz, who serves on a number of Chenango County nonprofit boards including the CUW.
