NORWICH – Six were indicted in October by a Chenango County grand jury for charges including rape, assault, and grand larceny.

• Jaideep Singh, 27, Syracuse, was indicted on the charges of rape in the second degree, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

It’s alleged that Singh – on a day during the month of October last year – did engage in sexual intercourse with a female less than 15 years old in North Norwich. The endangering the welfare charge accuses Singh of knowingly acting in a manner likely to be injurious to the physical, mental or moral welfare of a person under the age of 17 but subjecting said person to sexual contact.

Spencer’s charges include assault in the second degree, a class D felony; criminal mischief in the third degree, a class E felony; and assault in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Allegedly, on or about Aug. 5, 2015 in the Town of Smithville, Spencer, with intent to cause physical injury to another person, did cause such injury by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument. Spencer is accused of using a board to strike a victim on the head at approximately 3:30 a.m., causing swelling and bruising to the head of the victim.
