SOUTH PLYMOUTH – On Oct. 21, 2015, at approximately 11:44 a.m., New York State Police at Norwich responded to a Chenango County 911 report of an unattended death at a home in South Plymouth.
The investigation revealed that the deceased woman, identified as Kristina M. Wilkinson, 25, was living at this home.
It is alleged that Wilkinson was found unresponsive by friends after she failed to show up for work earlier that morning.
A Chenango County Medical Examiner responded to the home and ordered Wilkinson to be taken to Lourdes Hospital for an autopsy.
The autopsy results are still pending, therefore the cause of death is still undetermined.
While investigating this death, evidence of marijuana use was observed by the New York State Troopers.
Mark Pontario, 50, also resided at the same address as Wilkinson, in South Plymouth.
Following the execution of a New York State Police search warrant which was obtained, around 1.7 pounds of marijuana, 18 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, marijuana growing equipment and an unregistered handgun were found in his home and bedroom.
New York State Police arrested Pontario for criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree, a class D felony; criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony; and unlawfully growing cannabis, a misdemeanor.
The autopsy results are still pending.
Pontario was arraigned at the Town of Pharsalia Court.
