NEW HARTFORD – The Norwich Cyclones topped the previously undefeated New Hartford “B” Team Spartans 6-0 Sunday, September, 20, to remain unbeaten.

New Hartford had not been scored on all year until Mike Squires reached pay dirt from the 2-yard line with 9:03 remaining in the fourth. The return to play of Cameron Byrne was key as he set up the score on a 37-yard run to the two, and also led the Cyclone ground attack.

With 36 seconds remaining in the half, Andrew Mullen raced 34 yards to the Spartan’s one. Offsetting penalties moved the ball back to the six as time expired in the first half.

A Griffin Mills interception at the 37 with 4:53 remaining in the game set up a drive to the five-yard line, which stalled. Earlier, Mullen retuned a punt for 36 yards to the 29, and had a key 16-yard reception from Mills.

The Cyclones defense contained the swift New Hartford crew as they never seriously threatened. Mills, Byrne, Squires, and Mullen led the Cyclone defense, with Izaiah Caballero, Joey Marvin, Jared Houck, Dylan Bresee, Jaden Jenkins, Malachi Gaters, and Ben Glanville having big days. Glanville also recovered a key Spartan fumble.
