NORWICH – With plans of having everything moved from their current location by the start of August, the Chenango Club – an auxiliary of the Chenango Department of Mental Hygiene Services – is ready to take up a new residence within the City of Norwich.

Having signed a lease agreement in April for space on the second floor at the Chenango Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) facility on 27 W. Main St., county officials have been planning the move for months. The five-year, $1,626 per month lease will provide the Chenango Club with the space and resources needed for the program to continue services.

Renovations to the CHIP facility, however, are taking longer than expected, explained Ruth Roberts, Chenango County Director of Community Services. County officials initially planned to relocate the Chenango Club from its current space on Leilani’s Way in the Town of Norwich by late spring of this year.
