NORWICH – It’s about farms, farmers and fun as Chenango County comes together this weekend to celebrate all things dairy.
The 15th annual Chenango County Dairy Day kicks off Saturday in Norwich. As in years past, Dairy Day puts milk, milk products and milk producers in the spotlight during a free, fun-filled family day at the Chenango County fairgrounds. And since there are approximately 250 dairy farms and over 19,000 dairy cows in Chenango County producing more than 25.5 million pounds of milk per month, there’s certainly a lot to celebrate.
“June is Dairy Month, so we have a lot of things dairy planned,” said Marge Davis, chair of the Dairy Day Committee comprised of local dairy farmers, Cornell Cooperative Extension, members of the Chenango County Farm Bureau, USDA employees, and area businesses. “If you have never made it to Dairy Day, you should make it a point of being there.”
