NEW BERLIN – Three Unadilla Valley Central School seniors have organized a three-on-three basketball tournament to raise money for two New Berlin families that lost their homes to fire back in February of this year.

UV seniors Will Lamont, Brendan Booker, and Dylan Emrich decided that they would like to do something to help the Gorrell and Fink families out. The three young men chose to conduct a one day, three-on-three basketball tournament at the UV Elementary and High School gym. The event is slated for Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 9 a.m.

“Three high school students approached administration about raising money to help the Gorrell and Fink families who recently lost their homes in house fires,” said Frank Johnson, UV Secondary School Principal. “Numerous staff and students will participate in the event as players, officials, score keepers, etc., and our Booster club is donating all proceeds from the concession stand.”

The tournament is open to students in grades 6 through 12, and according to Val Doliver, in the UV High School office, they will be accepting registration for adult teams as well. The cost of registration is $5 per player. Organizers are asking that all interested participants register for the event by Wednesday, March 18. Registration forms are available in the UV Secondary School's main office.
