Norwich Needs To Set The Pace Against Sabers

Although Norwich was probably a slight favorite in last Friday’s sectional playoff win over Seton Catholic Central, there was some extra exuberance and celebrating from the players and fans following that game.

“To be honest, the first time we played them this year, they just outplayed us,” said Norwich coach Josh Bennett of what was likely his team’s worst performance – a 22-point loss to the Saints. “(Friday’s) win, we got us over the hump, and we got a win against one of those contending teams.”

Norwich (16-4) has remained consistent in beating the teams it was supposed to beat in Bennett’s six-year tenure, but victories over the elite have often been elusive. Norwich can rectify some those disappointments Saturday at 5:15 p.m. at the Floyd L. Maines Memorial Arena when it plays Susquehanna Valley for the Section IV Class B title.

It’s Norwich’s second straight finals appearance and fourth under Bennett, yet Norwich remains without a sectional title since the 2005-2006 season.
