NORWICH – With February being “Music in our Schools” month in all of New York State, the Norwich City School District has made plans to host its 16th Annual Music In Our Schools Month concert taking place on Tuesday March 3, at 7 p.m. in the Jack Jones Gymnasium at Norwich High School.

Every year the program celebrates the importance of music education within the school, and this year's program will feature 10 of the districts 16 music ensembles from the high, middle, intermediate and primary school bands, orchestras, and choral groups.

“Students who participate in music education – particularly those who play an instrument – develop their brain differently and are 'wired differently' than those who do not. This enables students to think critically and enhances problem solving skills – and that advantage flows over in to other areas of their education,” said Norwich Vocal Music Teacher Mary Williams.
