Woman Sentenced In Court For Drug Charges

NORWICH – A mother with a history of drug abuse –who lost her child due to legal issues – was sentenced to jail in Norwich City Court on Jan. 27.

Jovonne Woolever, 29, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree out of the City of Norwich.

Woolever is currently being held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility for another criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree charge and an additional charge of criminal mischief out of the Town of Norwich.

She was sentenced to 60 days of jail for the criminal possession charge and 45 days in jail for the criminal mischief charge by the Town of Norwich Court.

According to Judge James E. Downey, Woolever has a history of misdemeanor drug charges and drug-related crimes. Her public defender, Aaron Dean, also said she has a history of hospital admissions in Binghamton because of her drug use.
