B-G, Greene boys eliminated from sectional play

GREENE – Griffen Covert assisted on Seton Catholic Central's first goal, and then scored the winner with the lone tally of the second half to oust Greene from sectional play Friday.

Karl Zaengle scored unassisted from Greene, who held a 17-4 edge in shots on goal. "Seton played an emotional game and was ready to play," said Greene coach Rick Tallman after the game. "We were just flat today."

Spencer-Van Etten 2, Bainbridge-Guilford 1

SPENCER – Spencer-Van Etten scored the tying and go-ahead goal in the final five minutes of regulation to eliminate B-G (16-3) from Class C sectional play Friday.

Joqo Rodriguez tied the game at one apiece with 5:29 left, and Tyler Hodges had the winner volleying in a cornerkick from Philip VandeVoorde.

B-G (16-3) scored just 2:12 into the game when Jake Cuozzo netted a shot off a pass from Daniel Norris. "It was a great season for us, and we almost had it today," said B-G coach Pete Feltham.
