Chenango Arts Council places finishing touches on Bi-Annual Gala plans

NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council will host its 2014 gala event at the Northeast Classic Car Museum the evening of Saturday, Nov. 8.

In keeping with a themed tradition, the bi-annual event, aptly named “Parked Under the Stars,” is sure to pique the interests of automotive enthusiasts and those just looking to rub elbows for a great cause.

Proceeds from the evening will support the Chenango Arts Council’s cultural programming, which includes a performance series, gallery exhibits, funding opportunities for teachers, artists and organizations, scholarships for high school students, classes and workshops, and a community cultural calendar.

“In a nutshell, everything that the Council does to introduce and educate Chenango County in the arts will be directly benefited from funds generated at the event,” said Chenango Arts Council Executive Director Diane Batson-Smith.

New for this year, and for first time in the 14 years of the event's existence, the gala will be hosted at another nonprofit — the Northeast Classic Car Museum located at 25 Rexford St. in Norwich. Arts Council Co-Chair Mary El Emerson said, “The Car Museum has been a wonderful partner in organizing the event.”
