Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market starts up the first of November

OXFORD — There is good news in Oxford for food shoppers. The Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market begins Saturday, Nov. 1, 10 a.m until noon at the Parish House Community Center of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Albany Street, in the village of Oxford. The winter market will take place on the first Saturday of each month, November through April. The Parish House Community Center is located on Washington Square, the green building next to the stone church. It is wheelchair accessible, and there is ample parking behind the building.

Shoppers at the winter market will find friendly local vendors, with wide choices of old-fashioned jams, jellies, and preserves; organic dairy products; free-range eggs; locally raised meat; fresh greens and herbs; winter root vegetables; live plants; dried herb-and-flower teas; maple syrup; and aromatic breads and baked goods fresh from local ovens. Handcrafted items add to the colorful mix. The friendly atmosphere and excellent local products are all part of the Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market motto: “Our Soil, Our Hands, Your Neighbors.” Caution to Shoppers: Many items at the Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market are highly addictive. Once you try these offerings, you will not return to your former brands.

The Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market is organized by local volunteers responding to high demand from the community. The top-drawer quality and healthful offerings at the summertime Oxford Farmers’ Market have built a taste and a large clientele for local products, local foods, and have given rise to the new Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market. Mark your calendar with the 2014–2015 winter market dates: November 1, December 6, January 3, February 7, March 7, and April 4.
