Strong Second Half For 'Jackets; UV Captures Title

ONEONTA – Norwich held the opposition scoreless in the first half a sixth straight game, but was unable to contain the Yellowjackets in Monday's shutout loss.

Taylor Hitchcock scored twice in the second half for OHS, and Madison Miller tallied off a header to spark the attack.

"We played a great first half and were right with them,” said Norwich coach Adam Sprague. “Then our legs kind of died in the second half.

Kassidy Seary made 13 saves in goal for Norwich in the defeat.

UV wins NY Pizzeria title

NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley won its second tournament title in as many weekends beating Bainbridge-Guilford in the New York Pizzeria title game Saturday, 4-0.

The victory came one day removed from an 8-0 win over Oxford that sent the Storm into the finals.

Four different UV players scored in the win over the Bobcats. Nikki Gramstad scored 18 minutes into the game, and Hunter Lakin made it a two-goal advantage with 3:15 left in the opening session.

Kirsten White and Emily Converse scored one minute apart in the second half to add insurance.

Friday, the Storm scored six goals in the opening half to dispatch the Blackhawks.
