Greene 2, Norwich 0

NORWICH – At Norwich Thursday afternoon, defending MAC champion, Greene, had a much more difficult time distancing itself from Norwich.

Winners the past two seasons over Norwich by five-plus goals, Greene’s high-powered attack was limited to a single goal in each half.

Luke Day scored off a Karl Zaengle pass in the first half, and Day returned the favor to Zaengle in the second half. Zaengle has eight goals on the season, and Day now has five.

“We had three starters out, and it was an outstanding showing by my boys,” said Norwich coach Scottie Decker. “It was a great effort by the young kids to fill in for the starters.”

Norwich plays at Bainbridge-Guilford Monday in a game that was rescheduled from this coming Saturday.

OTEGO – Bainbridge-Guilford cleared a big hurdle to maintain its perfect record beating Unatego Thursday.

“I was surprised when my seniors told me they had not beaten Unatego during their high school careers,” said B-G coach Pete Feltham. “It was very tight, and although we were winning 1-0 at the half, I thought they had gotten the better of us.”
