County Approves $47,000 For Court Facility Driveway Upgrade

NORWICH – The Chenango County Board of Supervisors on Monday approved additional funds to be designated for further modifications to The Eaton Center where the county court facilities were recently relocated.

The resolution adopted by the Board calls for a $47,000 transfer from a contingency account that was created for the courts relocation project. Money will be used for fit up expenses as well as construction of a driveway leading from the north side of the building off Eaton Avenue to an entrance on the south side near the facility’s parking lot.

According to County Auditor RC Woodford, the driveway, which will serve primarily as an access point for the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office when transporting prisoners to and from the court facility, was part of the original design during renovations; but the county was only recently able to determine the costs of the project, he said.
