VESTAL – Vestal's high-speed attack had Greene reeling Wednesday night.

Nicole Jennings and Amanda Collins had two goals apiece for the Golden Bears to hand Greene an opening-game loss.

"We knew they were going to be good, and they were fast," said Greene coach Sue Carlin of Vestal. "They were just beating us to a lot of balls."

Greene pared a 2-0 deficit to a one-goal margin in the last 10 minutes of the first half. Vestal regained the momentum earning a penalty stroke, one that led to a decisive goal with 20 seconds left in the half. "That was a big momentum swing," Carlin said of the penalty stroke. "In the second half they got their jets going, and we couldn't stop them."

Greene's loan goal came on penalty corner when eighth-grader McKenna Sergi netted her first varsity goal off a Laura Durdon feed.
