New Berlin Youth Days coming in August

NEW BERLIN – The annual New Berlin Youth Days is coming up and promises to be a fun, affordable experience for children and adults alike.

The carnival is scheduled from Aug. 22 – 24, and the majority of events will take place on the north fields of the Unadilla Valley Central School, which is a change from the usual location.

“It is a community event where everyone can get together without spending a lot of money,” said Larissa Hanslmaier, president of the youth days. A number of free, hands-on activities will be available to children, as well as various events that are more geared towards adults. All proceeds will go to a number of local youth organizations, and the event serves as a large source of funding for many non-profits each year.

There will be large, crowd-drawing events over the three-day period such as the Miss Youth Days Pageant and fireworks on Friday. Saturday will feature a parade at 5 p.m., an earlier time than its normally scheduled time. Earlier that same day there will be a number of hands-on free kids activities such as a scavenger hunt, various demonstrations, and contests. Musical entertainment includes Kolby Oakley at the NYCM Insurance Entertainment Stage on Friday, and a performance by Cassidy Lynn on Saturday after the parade. Food, giveaways, raffles, rides, and other fun activities make the event full of opportunities for a wide range of entertainment.
