UTICA – UTICA – The OCO Elites, a 19-and-under baseball squad, won for the second time this season Monday night at Murnane Field in Utica.

The Elites jumped out a three-run lead in the opening frame en route to a four-run victory over Utica Post 229.

Paul Van Warner went 4-for-4, and scored one of his team’s opening three runs following Brett Smith’s two-run triple.

Conor Pope pitched four innings for the victory allowing two runs on no hits. Pope finished with two strikeouts and four walks.

Jed Parker had an RBI double in the third for OCO to stretch its lead to 5-2, and Van Warner’s two-run single capped a three-run fifth inning.

Brandon Miles added three hits and two RBI, while Smith and Austin Taylor finished with two hits apiece.

The Oneonta Hurricanes rallied for two runs in the seventh to force extra innings, and scored six runs in the top of the eighth in last week’s 9-5 win over the Elites.

Van Warner was 3-for-4 with two runs in the loss, and Dakota Kolvik had two hits and two runs scored.

Dan Greene and Lucas DeJoy had two RBI each to lead the Hurricanes.
