Mustang designer to speak at Mustang Mania

NORWICH – The Northeast Classic Car Museum and Matthews Ford Planet PreOwned are pleased to announce Mustang Mania Day in Norwich.

The event will be held Saturday, June 21. This will be a special celebration of Mustang's 50th anniversary.

The celebration begins with half-price admission to the Northeast Classic Car Museum, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. At 1:30 p.m., Professor Jerome Malinowski will speak in the Museum’s NBT Bank Event Center. Professor Malinowski was one of the designers who contributed to the development of the Mustang, and is currently a professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and coordinator of the industrial design program. He will present “The Enigma of the American Icon - The DNA of the Ford Mustang.” Included will be his original period drawings and graphic visuals explaining the DNA of the Ford Mustang.

Malinowski will be available for a question and answer session following the presentation, and attendees will receive a free commemorative poster, courtesy of Ford Racing. Admission to the presentation is free; please use the museum’s State Street entrance if you will be attending the presentation only.

At 6 p.m., Matthews Ford Planet PreOwned is hosting its annual Mustang Rally at its dealership at 175 East Main Street, Norwich. There will be food and beverage vendors, live music by Hi-Way Fruit Market, commemorative T-shirts, and of course, over 100 Mustangs in attendance.

Professor Malinowski will also be joining the rally. The Rally will culminate in a fireworks display, sponsored by Matthews Ford Planet PreOwned.
