Man indicted on assault and burglary appears in court, other appearances

NORWICH – Several appeared in Chenango County Court on Friday, June 13 and Monday, June 16 for arraignments and sentencing.

• Christopher L. Turner, 42, Preston, appeared for his arraignment and bail was reduced to $75,000 cash and $750,000 bond.

He was indicted on two counts of first degree assault, a class B felony; burglary in the first degree, a class B felony; burglary in the second degree, a class C felony; assault in the second degree, a class D felony; aggravated criminal contempt, a class D felony; and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor. He was remanded back to jail and is to appear in court at a later date.

Turner was arrested on April 12, 2014, in Preston after a domestic dispute was reported. Authorities reported that a stun gun was used in the incident, and that four children were in the home at that time. According to a release from the CCSO, two victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

• Ashley R. Wakefield, 28, Preston, appeared in court for arraignment. She was ordered to report to the drug treatment coordinator and was released on her own recognizance and is to appear in a court at a later date.
