The Chenango District of the Baden-Powell Council Boy Scouts of America honored Norwich's own Jim Edwards on Thursday for his outstanding dedication to the betterment of the Chenango County Community. Edwards is most notable for his work in helping found the Norwich Cyclones football and cheerleading programs in 1970. He currently serves as president of the organization – a position he has held for the last 44 years. He has also served with a number of other community organizations, including the Norwich Family YMCA, Guernsey Memorial Library, Kiwanis Club, and Junior Chamber of Commerce. Pictured from left to right are: Austin Carpenter (Life Scout, Afton); Jamie Edwards (son of Jim Edwards); Jim Edwards; Virginia Edwards (wife); Victoria McGulligot (daughter of Jim Edwards); Kurt Edwards (son of Jim Edwards); Thomas Emerson (emcee); and Zach Hoag (Life Scout, Norwich).
