Soup's on

NORWICH – The upcoming weekend in Norwich is promising to be full of exciting events for families across the county to get out and break the monotony of winter's cabin fever and enjoy some of the predicted warmer weather that nature has on tap. No excuses this weekend to hold down the couch, there's plenty to do out there in the community, most for a good cause.

In addition to the St. Patrick's holiday kick off at the Blarney Stone Pub featuring The Ryan Clan along with the pub's obligatory offering of corned beef and cabbage – and the St. Baldrick's event at The American Legion – back by popular demand is the popular soup tasting fundraiser dubbed “Souper Bowl.”

The third-annual event will once again be held at the Norwich Family YMCA with the goal of raising both awareness and funds to benefit the Chenango County chapter of Habitat For Humanity.

From at 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, more than 25 Chenango County restaurants will present to the masses a donated gallon of their best soup to support Chenango County Habitat for Humanity’s Souper Bowl.
