Borfitz Gets An ‘A’ On Senior Night

Norwich 63, Windsor 25

NORWICH – Norwich’s Jenni Borfitz brought her “A game” on a night when she and fellow senior Breanna Cashman were honored.

Playing her final regular season home game for the Tornado (11-5), Borfitz scored a season-high 23 points lifting her club to its 11th victory Tuesday against visiting Windsor.

Borfitz’s scoring was one off her career-high, a 24-point game last season at Windsor.

Norwich started the game with nine straight points, but had the lead whittled back to 11-6 after one period when the Black Knights’ Chase Moran turned a steal at midcourt into a layup with three seconds left in the quarter.

Borfitz had 10 of her points in a 24-point second quarter for Norwich, and Cashman scored eight to stretch the lead to 35-12 at halftime. The lead grew to 30 in the third with the Black Knights making just one basket in the quarter.

NHS reserve guard Makenzie Maynard had a big fourth quarter, and finished with 12 points, while Cashman scored 10.

Norwich’s junior varsity team improved its mark to 13-3 with a 59-16 victory. Bridget Murphy and Michaela Fazio scored 14 apiece to lead Norwich.
