Three Charged In New Berlin Gunpoint Robbery

NORWICH – Three individuals have been charged with robbery in the second degree, a class C felony, and have been remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 bail each.

According to authorities, a complaint was received on Saturday, Jan. 25 at approximately 3 a.m., of a victim being robbed at gun-point on Pat Farley Road in the Town of New Berlin.

“The victim reported being in the backseat of a parked passenger vehicle when a male allegedly approached the vehicle and pointed a shotgun in his face while demanding money. After throwing money out of the window, a female allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded more money,” states a release from the Chenango Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was able to escape and call 911.

Several hundred dollars in cash was found on the road by CCSO employees and the “handgun” reported was found to be a BB gun.

The three suspects were located and charged with robbery in the second degree and arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court.

The Norwich Police Department and New York State Police assisted the Sheriff’s Office with this investigation – and according to authorities, the incident appears to be drug related.

Arrested were Raymond H. Sitterly, 37, Norwich; Lacey-Jane Zinkhan, 18, Norwich; and Marissa D. Deforest, 26, homeless. The three were remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $20,000 bail.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
