Walton 2, Unadilla Valley 1

NEW BERLIN – Walton scored late on deflection off a cornerkick to eke out a one-goal win over Unadilla Valley Wednesday.

Jared Beach came up with the deflected ball scoring the winner for the Warriors with under 10 minutes to play.

"We were all-in up top after they scored (their second goal), we just weren't able to counter in the amount of time that was left," said UV coach Ryan Houck.

The Storm dominated much of the action in the first half, but came away without a goal. Walton's leading scorer, Nate Pieper scored 20 minutes into the second half. After that, Walton went into a defensive shell with nine players either in the midfield or on the back line. Still, a quick UV counter tied the game, Houck said, when Mason Alford beat Walton keeper Dylan Walley near side with a left-footed shot.

Greene 5, Candor 0

GREENE – Unbeaten Greene advanced to the second round of the Section IV Class C playoffs scoring all of its goals in an impressive first-half display of offense.

Luke Day tallied twice for Greene (17-0), Kurt Bartholomew and Ben Kinney had one goal and one assist, and Karl Zaengle added a fifth goal.

Greene plays the winner of Watkins Glen and Seton Catholic Central on Saturday.
