NPD hosts sixth prescription drug take-back day

NORWICH The Norwich City Police Department will open its doors to anyone wishing to safely dispose of their prescription drugs this weekend during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The NPD, in conjunction with the Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), has scheduled a prescription and over-the-counter drug take-back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Norwich Police Station, 18 East Main St.

Anyone who wants to dispose of their prescription and over-the-counter drugs can do so anonymously, free of charge and with no questions asked. According to the DEA, drug take-back programs are an excellent way to provide safe, convenient and responsible means to dispose of prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.
