Trick or Treat, Patrollers! It's not quite Halloween yet but the leaves are starting to turn and the winds might be howling a little bit. The DVD Patrol decided to take a column for mostly the kids (and one for the Toddster) as we dive into our first column for October. Just want to send a little shout out for our new editor at the Helm (good luck, Ashley!). Who's in the house? Knock on the door.

The Croods- Cartoon Spotlight has a new one. Things are always changing through our lives. Take the Croods. Grug (Nicholas Cage) has always kept his family sheltered in the cave to keep them safe. Some of us are always afraid of things we don't understand. He's going to have to overcome his fear in a hurry because an earthquake destroys their cave and now he has to take his family out into a strange new World to find their way. Grug also has to contend with his Daughter Eep (Emma Stone) who is always curious. On their trek they meet Guy (Ryan Reynolds). Guy has been around and meets up with the family to help them out. Can Grug keep his family together and cope with what's to come? My sources tell me that "The Croods 2" is already in the works. Stay tuned.

Beauty and the Beast (2012)- Heroes sometimes find the most interesting things along the way. Catherine Chandler (Kristin Kreuk) was working late one night and found that she had a flat tire. She calls her mother to come pick her up and they are suddenly confronted by a number of men who try to kill them. Catherine's mother is shot and Catherine tries to run through the woods to get away. A dark figure comes from the shadows and takes them down. Catherine passes out but has always wondered who the person was that saved her that night. Years later, Catherine becomes a Police Detective and begins working on a case involving a man named Vincent (Jay Ryan) who's supposed to be dead. Catherine gets jumped by some men but the same person who saved years ago appears again. Catherine discovers that it was Vincent who saved her. Just what is Vincent's story and will Catherine be able to find out more about him? Season 1 is in stores now with Season 2 beginning on it’s new night Monday October 7 at 8PM on the CW Network.

Here she meets Glenda the Good Witch (Billie Burke) who advises her that her house has landed on the wicked witch of the north and now her sister the wicked witch of the west (Margaret Hamilton) has come looking for her sister’s ruby slippers that Glenda has put on Dorothy's feet. She vows revenge and Glenda tells Dorothy that only the Wizard of Oz might be able to send her home. Dorothy heads to the Emerald City to meet the wizard and along the way, she meets the Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), the Tin Man (Jack Haley), and a loveable but cowardly lion (Bert Lahr). It seems an evil sea witch named Ursula has been trying to take over Ariel's father’s kingdom for some time. She may have found a way to get it.
