SIDNEY – Unadilla Valley won its fourth straight game Monday night at Sidney, and also recorded its fourth shutout in five wins this season.

Conor Pope assisted on all three of the Storm’s goals. Pope fed Brendan Brooker for the lone first-half goal as Brooker split the Sidney defense following ill-timed miscommunication. UV opened the advantage with Pope feeding Nathan Shackelton, and later sending a cornerkick to Johnny Schermerhorn, who completed the tally with a well-placed header.

UV goalies Kyle King and Shackelton combined for four saves. The Storm are now 5-3 overall.

Brookfield 5, Otselic Valley 0

BROOKFIELD – In a contest rescheduled from Sept. 13, an own goal started the scoring for Brookfield on its way to a shutout of OV (2-4) Monday.

Jake Cowen's crossing pass was miskicked by an OV defender and into the Vikes' goal 18 minutes in. Derek Beeching scored in the 38th minute putting back a rebound after a Cowen missed shot, and Cowen scored two minutes later for the three-goal advantage.

"Brookfield outhustled us and wanted it more than us," said OV coach Jacob Preston. "We played some good soccer today, but too often we had lapses in communication, marking up, and just watching. Brookfield made us pay."
