Norwich 3, Oxford 2
NORWICH – Norwich scored back-to-back goals in the second half less than three minutes apart to snap a 1-1 tie with Oxford in Tuesday’s victory over the Blackhawks.
Freshman Gird Ceno scored his second goal of the game converting on a sharp angle from the left side into the far inside right of the net. Moments later, senior Curtis Woodard blasted a long-range shot just inside the left post for the two-goal cushion.
Oxford sliced the deficit in half getting a breakaway goal from sophomore Josh Hull. Later in the game, Oxford nearly tied the contest when a point-blank shot to an open net hit the upper crossbar. “It was amazing for the kids to get that first win,” said Norwich coach Scottie Decker. “The team is coming together and getting a little better every day.”
Down 1-0 at the half, Hull knotted the game at 1-1, again after a breakaway.
Norwich hosts Greene on Thursday at Perry Browne Elementary School, while Oxford visits Unadilla Valley the same night.

Unadilla Valley 1, Bainbridge-Guilford 0
NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley topped Bainbridge-Guilford Tuesday afternoon in what was a near replica of last year’s one-goal victory over the Bobcats.
Jared Hanslmaier scored on a direct kick with 27 seconds left in the opening half hitting a shot from near midfield that connected with the side netting. Last year, Hanslmaier scored the game-winner against B-G on the same type of shot and in the same direction. “The monkey is off of our backs, and lightning did strike twice,” said UV coach Ryan Houck. “Jared was able to take advantage and give us the goal we needed to win. B-G is a very tough team to play against, and Bobcats coach Pete Feltham always brings his team ready to play in a fun, up-tempo aggressive battle.”
