Northeast Classic Car Museum rolls out “Wagons and Woodies”

NORWICH – With another busy tourist season just ahead, the Northeast Classic Car Museum on Rexford Street in Norwich is rolling out a new exhibit, complete with more vintage vehicles and a new theme, all in hopes of keeping the museum a lively, must-see attraction.

On Saturday, the museum will unveil its latest exhibit, “Wagons and Woodies: From Depot Hack to Station Wagon.” The display tells the history of the station wagon and its rise and fall as the preferred family vehicle throughout the middle part of the 20th century.

While cars spotlighted in “Wagons and Woodies” may not resemble the pre-World War II-era luxury models that have become synonymous with the Northeast Classic Car Museum, organizers say it will deliver a sense of nostalgia for car enthusiasts who grew up riding in the back seat of a station wagon.
