OXFORD – Tonight at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) welcomes Rabbit in the Rye, part of their Emerging Artist Series. This progressive folk rock trio from Hamilton creates rapturous walls of sound; sweet and somber waltzes that hang by a thread in the air, in your mind, and leave you wanting for more.

Rabbit in the Rye was founded in 2010 as a small folk project by singer-songwriter Joseph Mettler (acoustic guitar and harmonica). When Mettler found singer-musicians: Alexander Lavon - bassist, and Brendan O’Connor, a percussionist (drums and mandolin) from Woodbury, he knew he had just the right mix. Rabbit in the Rye became a hardy, three-piece, rock “folkestra.”

The band, which combines basic folk-rooted instrumentation with catchy and poetic rock, has opened for groups at the Westcott Theater, played ‘The Living Room’ in Manhattan, and shared the stage with guitar virtuoso Mike MiZ. Just last month they recorded a new collection of songs, and they will be touring the state with their original music for shows in Brooklyn, Albany, Binghamton, Hamilton (their base), and Kingston.

Come hear the unique progressive folk rock sounds of Rabbit in the Rye. Purchase tickets on-line for only $5, (plus $2 service charge) or at the door. Doors open one-hour prior to show time.

Also, don’t miss these future performances: the Dady Brothers on Sun., March 10, at 2 p.m. and Robin Bullock on March 23 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open one-hour prior to show time.
