NORWICH – Following a one year hiatus, the Norwich High School Musical Club will once again sponsor its Community Valentine’s Dance, to be held from 8 to 11 p.m. Feb. 15 in the NHS cafeteria.

The dance is one of three major fundraisers organized by the group, according to Musical Club advisor and stage director Mark Sands, who said while the school district is “very generous” with the money it allots for the club’s yearly productions, those funds don’t cover all expenses. Money raised through next week’s dance will help to defray those additional costs.

The dance is open to the entire community and admission is $5 per person and $20 for a family of four or more. Music will be furnished by classic rockers Midland Park, which features Norwich City School District teachers Matt Maholchic, Laura Taft and Sands, joined by former NHS teacher Dave Taft. The group, said Sands, is known for its classic rock performances, which feature music from the 50s through the 80s. Steve Samsonik of Sunshower Productions will also be on hand playing some favorite tunes, as well, he added.

“It’s a great time for the entire family and I hope the community will respond as they have done in the past,” said Sands, who added the dances have always been well attended. “Besides the dance the group will be holding two raffles that evening and refreshments will be available as well.”

Tickets for the NHS Musical Club’s “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” are currently available for purchase from cast members of the production and will also be available at the door Feb. 15. For more information contact Mark Sands at 334-4307.
